De Bethune integrates a very practical complication on their most classical line, the DB25 GMT Starry Varius.
The center of the dial is made of two parts. The upper half of the dial has a pink-gold sphere with a radial texture that represents the sun, the lower half has what is now iconic, blued titanium base with gold spheres embedded that represent the stars in the sky. It has a hand pointing to the date wheel right outside the center of this dial.
The way it displays the second timezone seems complicated but it is almost as easy to read as a Rolex GMT. There’s a recessed ring with 24 hour indicator and a sphere pointing to the “Home Time”. There’s an additionally nice touch to it, the sphere has 2 colours: gold and blue, it shows gold during the day and it will rotate to blue during the night.
The movement architecture and finish is a sight to behold, the Cal. DB2507, has the classic De Bethune, large delta-shaped barrel bridge that is mirror polished and engraved central portion. The triple pare-chute system supporting the blued balance wheel and its massive polished bridge across the movement.
All these create what possibly is today’s ultimate travel watch.
