Parmigiani Fleurier was established in 1996 by Michel Parmigiani. Prior to this he run an independent restoration workshop, that over the years have restored many important and historical clocks and watches as well as became the training ground of some of the most important independent watchmakers today.
The Toric Perpetual Calendar Retrograde was released in the late 1990s. It is still based on the original Toric design that was the earliest model in Parmigiani’s line up.
The Platinum case measures at 40mm and it features the distinctive double stepped bezel with knurled (coin-edge) decoration. The crown is slightly recessed into the case and it has sapphire cabochon on top.
The dial is where it gets more interesting. It is black with “Grain d’Orge” guilloche pattern, with a brushed silver chapter ring. As the name suggests it has a retrograde date display between 9-3. It also has 3 windows displaying the day of the week, leap-year and month as well as the moon phase indicator at 6.
Powering the Toric Perpetual Calendar is Cal. PF 130.5 self-winding, based on the Lemania 8813 ébauche that was highly modified, assembled and beautifully finished.
