1978, in the midst of the quartz crisis, Audemars Piguet introduced the world's thinnest perpetual calendar with the reference 5548. The movement, measuring at an impressive 3.95mm thin, based on the Cal. 2120 with a perpetual calendar module developed by Dubois Depraz.
The reference 25668 is the open worked version of the 5548/25548. It has a spectacular visual showcasing the expression of the highest level of watchmaking with its high level of finish and decoration of the complex mechanism of the perpetual calendar movement that can be seen from the dial side and the back.
The case is classically sized at 36mm with an impressive 7mm thickness. It is distinctively characterized with multiple step bezel with short and curved down lugs, making it sits on the wrist nicely.
The reference 25668 was produced between 1988-1993, and from the total of 205 pieces across different metal, the pink gold like this version is extremely rare with only 30 pieces ever made.
