The Fifty Fathoms, one of the earliest and most iconic dive watch introduced in 1953. Fifty Fathoms refers to the depth at about 91 meters. The Fifty Fathoms are made in many different variation and were issued both for civilian and military purpose. The most significantly known are the ones issued for the French Navy and the US Navy - branded as “Tornek Rayville”.

In the modern day Blancpain, the Fifty Fathoms is modernized with a more modern case design and material as well as high quality movement.

In 2023, Blancpain celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Fifty Fathoms and they introduced three limited edition piece to commemorate it. The third act is named “Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 3”, made as a 555 piece limited edition.

Inspired by the Mil-Spec model and for the first time in the design directly from the vintage model. The case measures at 41.3mm diameter with 13.3mm thickness in a satin brushed 9K Bronze Gold case, an alloy patented with 37.5% gold, 50% copper with silver, palladium and gallium. It gives it a distinctive aesthetic and it can safely contact the skin of the wearer. It is water-resistant to 300 meter.

The dial is matt black with vintage font, ecru colored Super-LumiNova indexes and hands as well as the moisture indicator at 6 that is iconic to the vintage Mil-Spec Fifty Fathoms. The bezel is black ceramic with Super-LumiNova filled minute markers.

The Fifty Fathoms 70th Anniversary Act 3 is powered by the Cal. 1154.P2 with a long 100-hour power reserve with a silicon balance-spring to ensure resistance to magnetism up to 1000-gauss. It is finely finished and decorated appropriately inspired by timepieces from the 1950s.
