The Ulysse Nardin Sonata, originally debuted in 2003, was a highly unusual watch during that time and it still has a highly unusual functions yet useful complication today.
It has a big date, GMT function and alarm that can be set to the minute in a 24-hour window. And pleasantly the alarm chimes on a cathedral gong similar to a minute-repeater.
The big date can be adjusted forward or backward making it easy to set. The GMT function can be adjusted easily with the + and - button on both side of the case. And the alarm can easily be activated or deactivated by the button on the crown at 9. It can be set by the minute in a 24-hour window and it can also be set as a countdown timer at the same time.
The Sonata is large at 42mm with 13mm thick case. The dial is silver with a linear
Cotes de Genve” finish with grey accents and contrasting large skeletonised blue hands.
The Sonata is powered by the automatic UN Cal. 66 with around 400 parts with 97 jewels.
