The Romain Gauthier Logical One was launched in 2013, and immediately clinched the award for the Best Men’s Complication Wristwatch at the GPHG that year. It features a modern incarnation of the chain and fusee mechanism to provide a consistent timekeeping. Another special feature of the Logical One is the way the watch is wound, with a pusher at 9.

The Logical One comes in many different iteration from very traditional design to contemporary one like this example. The case is large at 43mm in diameter with 14mm thickness in DLC coated Grade 5 Titanium. It features a small crown at 2 and a winding pusher at 9. The case has some very intricate details, like the concave bezel and recessed flanks with frosted finish.

This variant is a 5 piece limited edition that features a blue grand-feu enamel dial for the sub-dials for the hour and minute and the small second.

The fusee and chain mechanism is visible on the left portion of the dial and it is a sight to behold. Romain Gauthier use a snail cam instead of the conical gear that allows the chain to remain flat allowing a more efficient transfer of energy and lower down the chances for it to break or misalign. The ruby-link chain cut down friction and the need of lubricants.

Obviously when we talk about Romain Gauthier watches finishing is always the highlight. The movement has different colours and textures due to components made of different material such as stainless steel, beryllium copper, brass, titanium and German silver with various way of finishing such as graining, snarling, brushing and black polishing.
