The reference 5070 series debuted in Basel World 1998, and it was Patek Philippe’s first chronograph-only complication since the discontinuation of the reference 1463 in the 1960s. It was produced in four different metals : yellow gold, white gold, rose gold and platinum.
The platinum version, reference 5070P was the last iteration of the series, and it was introduced in 2008. It is the rarest and the most desirable of the four variants as it was only produced for 2 years.
The design of the 5070 took inspiration from the vintage reference 2512 split-second chronograph. It has a large 42mm case with an 11.5mm thickness, dramatically thick stepped bezel and lugs, in this reference in platinum.
The dial has a very balanced layout with two registers right in the middle framed by a tachymeter scale. This platinum version has a very attractive bright sunburst blue dial.
Powering the watch is the Cal. CH 27-70 manual-winding column wheel chronograph movement that is based on the highly coveted Lemania 2310 ebauche, heavily modified and beautifully finished by Patek Philippe.

The watch is in near mint with some minor sign of wear. The movement runs and functions well at the time of testing.
