Panerai PAM192 Luminor Chrono Tantalium

The PAM192 Luminor Chrono Tantalium, was introduced in SIHH 2004 as a 300 piece limited edition, it was a follow up to the PAM172 Luminor Marina Tantalium that was introduced one year earlier.

Tantalium/Tantalum is a rare, had, blue-grey colored metal renowned for its high melting point and extreme resistance to corrosion. It is primarily used in electronics, chemical processing equipment and aerospace alloys. It was first used in a serially produced wristwatch by Audemars Piguet in their Royal Oak from the late 1980s.

The case measures at 44mm in diameter with 15mm thick profile in brushed tantalum case and polished tantalum bezel. It has the distinctive crown locking mechanism giving the watch a water resistance of 200m. It is flanked by a pair of chronograph pusher at 2 and 4.

It features a black dial with two antharcite grey chronograph counter at 3 and 9. On the flange it has a 500 uph calibrated Tachymeter scale. It is topped with a set of blued steel hands.

Powering the watch is the Cal. OP XVI hand wound movement based on the Lemania Cal. 1872 chronograph movement.
