Urwerk, the brainchild of Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner, has been pushing boundaries in the world of horology by its unique sci-fi themed design and its unique ways of telling time, as early as the late 1990s. The concept of using “Wandering-Hour” complication is not new in the world of horology, however Urwerk managed to integrate it perfectly with their retro/sci-fi themed design.
The UR-100 was first introduced in 2019, at the time it has the most conventional case design throughout the line-up, making it one of if not the easiest wearable Urwerk. Due to its popularity there are many different iterations of the UR-100.
In 2021, Urwerk introduced the UR-100V Full Titanium Jacket that features a matte grey Titanium case with an integrated bracelet. One year later Urwerk introduced the UR-100V Full Black Titanium Jacket that has its case and bracelet coated with black DLC.
The case measures at 41mm x 49.7mm with 14mm thickness due to its domed crystal. The case and bracelet are sandblasted titanium with black DLC coating. The bracelet is interchangable with a black rubber strap that comes together with the package.
The UR-100 tells time with three-satellites, each carries an hour disc and it points to a 120-degree arched minute track to indicate the minute. There are additional astronomical indications at 10 , showing the distance travelled on Earth at the equator and distance travelled by Earth around the sun at 2.
This watch is powered by the Cal. UR12.02 proprietary automatic movement with the winding rotor governed by a Windfänger airscrew.
