The Grand Seiko SBGM239 was released in 2020 as a 500 piece Limited Edition collaboration with Hodinkee. It is based on the iconic reference SBGM221, an evolution to one of the first modern Grand Seiko with GMT function from 2004.
The case measures at a wearable 39.5mm diameter with 13.5mm thickness in Stainless Steel. It is of course finished impressively with Zaratsu polishing. It has an integrated 3-link Stainless Steel bracelet.
The dial is highly legible with Grand Seiko logo and branding at 12 and second timezone hour 24 hour markers printed just inside the diamond cut hour markers. The Hodinkee edition has a twilight blue dial color and as it is with darker color Grand Seiko it is paired with a brushed finish hands for better legibility.
Powering the watch is the Cal. 9S66 self-winding movement with three-days power reserve that has been completely manufactured in-house from scratch.
