In 2003, IWC introduced the Portuguese Perpetual Calendar featuring the infamous Perpetual Calendar movement that has been around since the 1980s, invented by Kurt Klaus, a former head watchmaker in IWC. It is known for the total synchronization and the ease of use. The calendar is all synchronized and can easily be adjusted by Turing the crown.
This variant in 18K White Gold measures large at 44mm in diameter with 15mm thickness. It has a sunburst grey dial with a highly legible and balanced layout. The moon phase indicator is placed at 12, date and power reserve indicator at 3, month indicator at 6 and day with the running second at 9. It also indicates the year with a window between 7 and 8.
