Francois Czapek was a highly regarded Polish watchmaker in the 19th century, an early partner of Antoine Norbert de Patek, of Patek Philippe and a purveyor to the Imperial Court of France. The company Czapek was revived in 2012.

The Antrarctique is Czapek’s entry into the segment of stainless steel luxury sport watch. It has an unusual combination of flat and rounded edges with a C-shaped links on its integrated bracelet. The bracelet can be easily swapped with a rubber or leather strap with its Easy Release system.

In 2021, Czapek introduced the Antarctique Rattrapante, that is also their first split-second chronograph. It is visually stunning with the split-second chronograph module visible on the dial.

The case measures at 42.5mm wide by 15.3mm thick including the height of its domed sapphire crystal. It has two chronograph pushers, at 2 for start-stop-reset of the chronograph and at 10 for the split-second.

The watch is totally openworked, showcasing the intricacies of the split-second chronograph module on the dial, with two subdial at 4 and 8. The minute track and the two counters are transparent with a subtle ice-blue color that is very pleasing to the eye yet still highly legible.

Powering the Antarctique Rattrapante is the Cal. SHX6 self-winding movement that was made in collaboration with Chronode, a Le Locle based movement manufacturer run by Jean-Francois Mojon.
