The Rolex Air-King, one of the least talked about model in Rolex’ lineup, actually has a history dating back to the 1940s during the World War II. It was initially designed to be an aviator watch however it slowly evolved to what now becomes the entry to the professional model Rolex.
Tom Monaghan, the founder of Domino’s Pizza, started giving away watches to the franchisee who were able to reach the sale target. Started of with his own Bulova watch with Domino’s logo to several Seikos and hundreds of Rolex watches.
The Rolex that was chosen for this was the Air-King with an understated look in 34mm stainless steel oyster case and oyster bracelet and at the bottom of the dial was printed with the vibrant Domino’s logo.
This challenge is still going on today with the current one using the reference 126000 Oyster Perpetual 36mm with a Domino’s emblem attached on the bracelet and Domino’s logo engraved on the case back.
