Patek Philippe introduced the original Nautilus “Jumbo” reference 3700 in 1976, designed by the legendary Gerald Genta. The design was inspired by a ship’s porthole with “ears” on the sides. Together with the Royal Oak, they pioneered the genre for luxury steel sports watch. It was dormant after being discontinued in the 1990s and was succeeded by the reference 3711/1G in 2004. And only in 2006 Patek Philippe introduced the 5711/1A that is a Nautilus in Stainless Steel for the 30th Anniversary of the Nautilus.
The 5711 measures at 40mm across the dial and it has a slim 8.3mm profile. And for the first time it features a three-piece case giving it water resistance up to 120m, living up the expectation of a sports watch. The case and bracelet is beautifully finished with a mixture of brushed, satin and polished finish.
It has a blue with black gradient rim and horizontally embossed with a central sweeping second hand and date window at 3.
This 5711 is powered by the thin Cal. 324SC self-winding movement, beating at 28,800 vph with a 45 hour power reserve.
