In the 1960s the use of radium in watches became a serious safety and health issue to the public. And Blancpain introduced what turns to be on of the most iconic Fifty Fathoms variant with a “No Radiation” sign on the dial, it clearly identifies that the absence of a radioactive material used for its lume.

In 2021 Blancpain launched a re-issue of the original model with a very wearable 40.3mm diameter case as a 500 pieces Limited Edition with styling details taken from the original “No Radiation”. The bezel is made of sapphire that has been synonymous to Blancpain’s modern Fifty Fathoms, and is also filled with lume for better legibility under water. The sapphire crystal is boxed and highly distorted on the side reminiscing to their vintage dive watches. And the dial has its iconic “No Radiation” stamp just above 6 and the lumes are coloured to look like a vintage dial with patina.
