The Gronefeld brothers, Tim & Bart Gronefeld , are thirds generation watchmaker from the town of Oldenzaal in the Netherlands. After undergoing their studies, training and professional experience in Switzerland, they began making their now watches under their own name in 2008.
In 2016, Gronefeld introduced a simple time only with a highly complex Remontoire d’Egalite. . It was inspired from a church clock with a built in remontoire, in the village of Asten, that their father and grandfather have been responsible for keeping running.
It has a Sterling Silver dial with satin-grained surface finishing. On the dial side at 9, we can see the speed governor, that regulates the speed of the remontoire mechanism.
The case, despite its classic appearances, is very complex with partially concave bezel and beautifully carved multiple step lugs.
On the back the Cal. G-05 always stands out with its spectacular architecture and finish. The bridges are made of stainless steel and are hand-beveled and polished, while the center of each bridge is micro blasted. The screw holes are polished on the inside and the screw heads are mirror polished.
Only 188 pieces of the Gronefeld 1941 Remontoire were made and it won the 2016 GPHG award for the best Men’s Watch category.
