Ochs und Junior is a unique manufacture, primarily creating rigorously simple yet useful mechanical watches. It was founded by Ludwig Oechslin in 2006, who from the early 2000s, has created many award wining watches, including Ulysse Nardin’s Freak and Sonata.
The Ochs und Junior Annual Calendar, just as other Ochs und Junior watches has a simplified display. With only two hands and holes on the dial displaying the month, date of the month and day of the week.
There are 30+1 holes around the perimeter of the dial displaying the date of the month with one overlapping between the 31st and the 1st hole. The day of the week is displayed by the 7 holes display at 6 that rotates counter clockwise. And the month is displayd by the 12 holes display at 12 that also rotates counter clockwise.
It is an annual calendar meaning that it only needs to be adjusted once every year on March 1st. And while most annual calendars are extremely complex with levers and springs, Ochs und Junior annual calendar comprised of just 3 additional parts, for fewer interaction between parts and higher reliability and all these can be easily adjusted from the crown.
And as it is with most Ochs und Junior watches, the case design is very minimalistic, and is crafted in sterling silver with 42mm diameter. The dial and disks are made of iron and was rusted for several weeks giving it a very unusual rustic look.
