Patek Philippe introduced the 5180/1R in 2017, the year they celebrated the 40th anniversary of the legendary Caliber 240. The Caliber 240 is an ultra thin automatic movement, at 2.53mm, that was meant to outperform quartz movement in terms of beauty, reliability and elegance.
The 5180/1R is powered by the Cal. 240 SQU, which is a completely skeletonized, decorated and engraved version of the Cal. 240. The engraving alone accounts for no less than 130 hours of work.
The watch itself is dressy with a 39mm case diameter and 6.7mm height. It also has a 15-link bracelet that is very flexible and comfortable on the wrist.
